One of the remaining
open top Atlanteans
has been discovered
and may be returning,
subject to funding
being secured.
Regretfully, this attempt to return one
of the remaining open top Atlanteans
has not been successful. Although
we were advised that the vehicle
was for sale and despite us being
prepared to offer a price that
exceeded the market value of the
vehicle, the vendor is not willing to
sell below a price that, in our opinion,
far exceeds the true market value of
the vehicle.
We fully appreciate that the vendor
has a business that operates in a
marketplace that is very different to
that of a volantary museum and
sincerely hope that this vehicle finds
a new use and does not deteriorate
any further as it is unlikely to remain
restorable for much longer if kept in
its current surroundings.
So, we’ll keep looking! Meanwhile, if
you come across an interesting ex-
CPPTD vehicle, we are always
interested!
UPDATE:
ATLANTEAN TO
RETURN?
Sunday 11th July 2010
Due to insurmountable problems
concerning the "Return of the
Titans" event on 11th July, this
event has been slimmed down to a
Running Day for just ex-
Portsmouth vehicles. Up to 10
buses will be operating from The
Hard Interchange (Stand J) to
Eastney Caravan Park via Old
Portsmouth and the seafront,
between approximately 10 am and
5 pm.
PD1 Restoration
Commences
The “Tuesday Gang” (Dave Wilds,
Clive Wilkin, Doug Stewart,
Richard Finch and Kevin
Warrington) have started work on
restoring our 1947 PD1 to its
former glory. Although very sad
looking, the bus is in remarkably
good structural condition despite
being involved in many staged road
accidents while at the Fire Service
College. Look out for further news!
