WHY is it our journal called “BSBS”?
Originally, CPPTD had its home at Broad Street in Old Portsmouth. The member’s magazine, an A5 journal was always called
“The Broadsheet” and so “Broad Street Broad Sheet” became naturally abbreviated to BSBS. With the move away from Broad
Street, a new name was required as we were clearly no longer at Broad Street and the magazine had never been a broad sheet
in any case! Our editor ran a competition for a new name with many of the entries being puns on Wicor (Wicor Basket and Wicor
Island being just two). However, an overwhelming majority wanted to retain the “BSBS” abbreviation and so a second competition
was held to find a suitable new title allowing BSBS to be retained. Our editor came up with “Bus Shed By Sea” - a reference to
the location of Wicor Farm, but in the end, we decided to just formally adopt the name “BSBS”
