PRIVATE HIRE  We receive numerous requests to hire our vehicles to be used as transport for Weddings or other events such as school proms from members of the general Public. Our position on this is very simple and straight forward - we do NOT offer our vehicles for hire or reward under any circumstances.  The reason is quite simple - we do not hold a Traffic Commissioner’s Operators Licence to operate for hire. Therefore, you will understand that we have no option other than to politely refuse all such requests. Sometimes, you will see our vehicles in use for Weddings or other social uses. We do, from time to time, allow the buses to be used (without charge) by our volunteers and bona fide members of our Friends organisation, for their own weddings or events.  RECOMMENDATIONS We are sometimes asked to recommend someone who would be able to help in such circumstances as described above - it would not be correct for us to favour one business over another. Locally to Portsmouth, there are a few companies who are able to hire classic buses or coaches for your event. These are: South Coast Motor Services (near Chichester) Mervyn’s Coaches (near Basingstoke) Local Haunts (Southsea) Please note that we provide this information purely as a service to our visitors and do not recommend or promote any of these operators. Any arrangement that you may enter into is entirely a matter between you and the hirer. We do not act as agent for any bus or coach operator.
