Portsmouth & Horndean Light Railway Tram no 13 Owned by: Working Omnibus Museum Project Ltd   Upon closure of the system in 1935 the lower deck of this tram, minus all electrical equipment and truck was purchased for £5 by a Mr Clarke of Portsmouth who had it transported to Downhouse Road, Clanfield where it served as a summer house. In 1973 it was acquired by Portsmouth City Museums for their Transport Collection but restoration work did not start until the car was presented to CPPTD in 1992. The work carried out since then has transformed its appearance from a basically sound but extremely scruffy and undesirable "lump of wood", and with the valued assistance of White & Co. International Removers and Hampshire County Council has enabled it to be transformed. One of the major tasks was the fabrication of a new truck, after which it is intended to acquire controllers for both ends, motors and other electrical equipment. Built by the English Electric Car Company, operated unti 1935 and then converted into a summer house - like all self respecting tram cars! not an easy vehicle to move... newly installed at Wicor Click thumbnail to enlarge moving to Wicor (c) SW (c) SW (c) SW (c) SW (c) SW
