The Friends of CPPTD - our support organisation
This is the support group of the City of Portsmouth Preserved Transport Depot, one
of three separate bus preservation centres in Hampshire / West Sussex
administered by the Working Omnibus Museum Project Ltd., a registered charity
no. 1020411.
If you are interested in old buses and are a “hands-on and get mucky” sort of
person, the Friends of CPPTD could be just your kind of society! Alternatively, if
you do not wish, or are unable, to offer physical help we will be just as pleased to
welcome you, and your subscription will be equally as valuable.
For your annual subscription you will receive at least 4 issues of our magazine,
“BSBS”, which will keep you informed of progress on the vehicles and depots as
well as news of other preservation projects, the whereabouts of old Portsmouth
and Southdown buses, articles and details of tours, visits and other social events.
Taxpayers can help us considerably by completing the Gift Aid declaration form to
enable us to reclaim tax paid by you on your donations for as long as the Gift Aid
scheme lasts.
A proportion of your subscription will go towards preservation projects and the
upkeep of the vehicles and depots, as well as the purchase of essential tools and
equipment. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that, by your financial,
practical and moral support, items of importance in local road passenger transport
history are being restored to working order and preserved for posterity.
The costs of moving our collection of vehicles and artefacts, not to mention tools,
paint, workbenches and spares, out of storage and into Wicor Farm, has been
considerable, and the support and help of the “Friends” is now more vital than
ever. It is essential that we keep alive the spirit of the City of Portsmouth
Preserved Transport Depot!
We firmly believe that our hobby should be educational, stimulating, enjoyable
and rewarding, but, above all, FUN, and we have always tried to reflect this in our
style of operation.
